October 6th – 25

On October 6th 1981 President Sadat, the supreme leader of the Egyptian armed forces was assassinated in a military parade marking the 8th anniversary of the October 1973 war victory under his command.

President Sadat was a unique states man, a man with a vision and a man of action, he has managed to use the tools he had to create an unprecidented victory over Israel in 6 hours, storming the Suez canal and capturing it’s east bank well into Sinai. Later on Sadat was capable of making the whole world stand still when he initiated peace with Israel and paid a historical visit to Jerusalem where he addressed the Israili Knessit, prayed in AlAqsa mosque and visited holy christian sites. His work was crowned with the Camp David accords and Egyptian Israili peace treaty after which Egypt reclaimed back all it’s occupied land from Israel, peace prevailed between the two countried ever since. He was awarded the Nobel peace prize for his efforts and was recognised by the whole world and by history as a genius and a hero of war and peace.

Sadat did not win the war with Israel. The Israelies crossed the suez canal also and in the end it was a stale mate Yes he was the first Arab leader to make pease, 25 years on why is it that the other arab states still harbour terrorist and stll wage war with Israel.Sadat had no option but find pease as the Russians could no longer re-arm the country and would have lost a third war with the Israelies. With the break up of USSR their influence was on the wane

Well Sadat won the war, I know it is very hard to acknowledge this, after all these years you think that telling the whole world that it was a tie is your only way of maintaining your image as a terrifying powerful state. Sadat kicked out the russians way before the war, he didn\’tt need them, he took the initiative, something you might not know about, called leadership and courage drove him to take the decisions he took for the best of his people and for the best of your people too. He created peace for arabs and Israilis, peace that was real and tangible, something the consecutive Israli governments have failed to initiate or appreciate. And Arab governments harbouring terrorists, well, come on man, they are weak, dumb american run desperate regimens, none of them harbour any terrorists, it was just a bogus to invade Iraq by the way… Sadat had a vision for peace and he had the influence and the credibility under the Carter administration to drag the Israilis into negotiations and come out with a conclusive fair treaty. Nowadays the Israilis feel all so powerful that they don\’t want to give the arabs the rest of their property.
and about the war, please read some serious history to understand what really happened away from the glorification of some stray platoon crossing the Suez canal and having the guts to compare it to tearing down the harshest defence line in modern history and sweeping the east bank of the Suez canal.

dear me  I say what you have is a selective memory in the 1967 war Egypt was routed  in 7 days the control of the sky took 2 day,all the equipment supplied by USSR. When Sadat went to war in 1973 the Yom Kippur it did take the Isrealies by surprise when they crossed the suez canal, please do not moch my inteligence.the israelie force that crossed the canal was a full armoured division and the Egyptian forces were in danger of being encircled, had it not been for the intense diplomatic actions the outcome may well have been different scenario.
I stand by my words that Arab states harbour terrorists and that Egypt is no different.

    Dear Robin
It is true what you sais about us the egyptians being defeated ,but these happened in the year 1967.Please read my words again ""1967"",and we are not afraid toor chy  to say that we were defeated .Inthe year 1973 it is true that the Russains also wre not helping us as you said (they gave us bridges dating since" WORLD WAR 2"….YES WORLD WAR 2although tyey had these bridges that could be mounted in about one hour). It is also true that the israilly army under the leadership of the butcher Areal Sharon(he mascered egyptian PRISONERS OF WAR in the desert of Saini inthe year 1967,also he mascared lots of women and children in Sabra and Shateela). The egyptian army back then made aplan to DESTROY these forces totally,BUT NENRY KISINGER TOLD THE LATE PRESIDENT SADATAND  I QUETE "IF YOU DO ANYTHING TO THESE FOECES""AMERICA WILL DESTROY YOUR COUNRTY""….".So you see dearest Robin that back then  a3rd world country was facing  areal big terrorist country(it is called the united states) and even though thank God we were able to defeat the israillies for th frist time in the arab israilly struggle  and to destroy the legendary  defence line of Barlif. However Robin if you want to know the truth I advice you to read what was written back then by some honest israilly writersIf you failed pleas try to contact for further  TRUE INFORMATION about what really happened back then.

Robin!! I think this is reaching a dead end here, you are having a flight of ideas it seems, you are convinced that the Arab countries have all the flaws and shortcomings, and you believe that the jewish state has all the might and power and could have never been defeated etc.
I think we won\’t understand each other, I am a man that values the peace we live in, I appreciate it, you don\’t, you still think it was dictated by fear or defeat rather by true love of life and wanting betterness for our people and theirs too. Sadat was a unique man I said, cos he could defeat such weaknesses and see beyond personal glory, he gave his own life for what he believes in, just like another great man did after him, Rabin, the former Israili prime minister that won the hearts of many arabs like Sadat won the hearts of the whole world!! When Sadat died Begin and Carter wept, because they witnesses the loss of a giant, you my dear don\’t understand this and you belittle his historical deeds too.
About the Yum Kipur war, Egypt crossed the suez canal, startled the Israilis and conquored their defenses, there was a cease fire with explicit American warnings etc. After that Israel broke the cease fire and sent the division across the Suez canal yes, a division my dear, trapped between two Egyptian Armies… They could have destroyed it, and as Sadat said at the time, this would have been the point of no return, and the stupid media that says Cairo was in danger, I want to see your "division" capturing a city with ten million inhabitants, they would have eaten them alive, stop glorifying tactical maneuvers that were successful as a bargaining chip then, but never changed the fate of a war. Also Egyptian rockets could have stormed Tel Aviv from day one, but they didn\’t, Egypt had a goal, which was to start negotiations from a point of proven power, not to destroy Israel or to wage a full scale war, we were never the aggressors, and we always wanted a peaceful fair solution.
Egypt does not harbour terrorists, we were victimised by terrorism many times, terrorists you harboured over the years, trying to topple our governments, those senseless beasts you funded with your intelligence systems to fight communism and to topple the regimens you didnt want. Now they got out of hand and you blame us? You\’d better be sane enough as to gain as many allies as possible so as to be able to remove this ongoing threat of international Terrorism once and for all.

Ps If A A Kawi would like to drop by site I will be more than welcome to talk to him, as I am not sure where you are comming from with your comment

    Dear Robin,
Thank you for your kind reply, and I too have enjoyed this debate, I am happy that others are joining in too. I think that the best thing we all can do is discuss openly our thoughts, fears and insecurities, maybe then will we develop an understanding for one another on this planet, maybe then will we all accept each other and peace can prevail.
I invite you to come one day to visit this part of the world, and believe me you won\’t regret it, her things are different, not bad or anything, just very different, and then you might touch the difference and understand our points of view. Thank you again and be well.
